BQP Project NR2154 Internship

Identity, Report and Website Design Concept

An identity project for the Bjarke Ingels Group’s (BIG) proposal to fix the ailing Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE) in New York. The goal was to better communicate its solutions among the competition and imagine the new identity for the expressway and the park around it.

I helped create the identity for BQP, designed a template for BIG’s proposal report to the city council, and conceptualized the website.

Client: Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG)

Company: NR2154

Duration: 4 weeks

Tools: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Sketch

Identity Design: The Throughline

The BQP logo is crafted from a series of interweaving lines that represent the merging of the water, park, and neighborhoods.

These lines create a sense of movement and play, and illustrate the many ways that culture and community can come to life within the park. The lines can extend to become ownable, interactive elements across digital and physical activations.

Report Design

I designed a template based on the key pages and set specific guidelines in an InDesign file so BIG could easily place in information for the remainder of the report.

Website Initial Concept

I proposed an animation of the logo on the landing page and a continuous line that would extend throughout the website, connecting and interweaving different elements (ex. text boxes and images) on it. This concept was embedded into the final website.

Final Reflection

NR2154/NYC is a creative studio for clients ranging from avid start-ups to global luxury brands. Working at a small, fast-paced company challenged me to be more self-motivated and adaptable to change. I learned how to communicate and work with a variety of clients, understanding the production limitations and business needs of each company.
